WFP stresses need to maintain ceasefire in Gaza
The World Food Programme said, "The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip must continue and cannot be reversed."
The UN program added, in a post on its account on the X platform, today, Saturday, that "after 6 weeks of the ceasefire in Gaza, our teams were able to reach one million people across the Strip, by restoring supply distribution points, reopening bakeries, and expanding cash assistance," noting that the path to safe and sustainable humanitarian access is clear.
The World Food Programme stressed the need to continue the ceasefire in Gaza, saying: "It cannot be reversed."
About 1.5 million citizens in the Gaza Strip are facing tragic conditions and circumstances, in light of the continued forced displacement as a result of the war of extermination and the widespread destruction inflicted by the Israeli occupation forces on their homes over the course of more than 15 months of the aggression.
With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is intensifying, and citizens are facing great difficulties in securing food and water, which exacerbates their suffering.
