Water Authority Chairman: New German Support for Strategic Projects in the Wastewater Sector

Today, Thursday, the head of the Water Authority, Ziad Mimi, confirmed that the German Agency has allocated an integrated program aimed at institutionalizing and building the capacities of the sanitation sector in Palestine, which will extend over three years at a financial cost of up to 5 million euros.


During his meeting today with the Director of the Water Resources and Sustainability Program at the German Agency for Development in Palestine, Natalie Bartlett, the Deputy Director of Cooperation at the German Representative Office, Ruth Miller, the Head of the Support Management Unit, Annette Bremer, and the Project Officer, in the presence of the Water Authority staff, Ramez Al-Titi, the Technical Advisor, Moaz Abu Saada, the Director of the Aid Coordination Unit, Nujoud Abdo, the Director General of Development and Training, Ziad Al-Faqha, and the Director General of Projects, Ziad Daraghmeh.


Al-Mimi appreciated the German Agency’s allocation of an integrated program aimed at institutionalizing and building the capacities of the sanitation sector in Palestine, which will extend over three years at a financial cost of 5 million euros. It includes supporting the establishment of water facilities, raising the efficiency of institutions and cadres working in the water sector, enhancing collaborative work and developing the institutional aspect.


Al-Mimi also touched on the Water Authority’s plan, which is based on unifying efforts, diversifying projects, and their comprehensiveness of various important aspects that the Water Authority places among the main priorities for what serves the water sector first, unifying work among all workers in the water and sanitation sector, and integrating the work of donor agencies.


For her part, Bartlett stressed the importance of involving the Water Authority in its development plan, which helps in unifying efforts and raising the efficiency of work in the listed projects, noting that the German side will work to develop a plan that is consistent within its framework with the Water Authority’s directions, to be discussed and agreed upon in the coming days.
