Hebron: Settlers plant trees on citizens' lands in Masafer Yatta

Dozens of settlers planted trees on citizens' lands in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, on Friday.

Local sources reported that dozens of settlers, under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, planted trees near the homes of citizens in Khirbet Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta. This was preceded by their excavation work in the area two weeks ago, and they raised the flags of the occupying state, in preparation for seizing these lands.

She added that the settlers also planted trees on citizens' lands in the Birin area, east of Hebron.

It is noteworthy that the settlers have intensified their attacks on citizens and their property in Masafer Yatta, preventing them from reaching fields and pastures, and releasing their herds of cattle into citizens’ fields and destroying large areas of wheat and barley crops. They are also chasing farmers and shepherds with the aim of restricting them and displacing them from their lands to facilitate their seizure, for the benefit of colonial expansion.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission documented in a report that settlers carried out 318 acts of vandalism and theft of citizens’ property last month, which affected large areas of land and resulted in the uprooting of 969 trees, including 960 olive trees, 350 of which were in the Hebron Governorate, 328 in Bethlehem, 160 in Salfit, 100 in Nablus and 31 in Ramallah.
