Hamas: We are committed to the ceasefire agreement and Israel has not fulfilled its pledges
Hamas confirmed on Tuesday its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the prisoner exchange with Israel, noting that Tel Aviv is the one that did not fulfill its pledges and "bears responsibility for any complications or delays."
This came in a statement published by the movement on Telegram, in which it reiterated its "rejection of US President Donald Trump's statements regarding the displacement of our people from the Gaza Strip under the pretext of reconstruction."
The movement described Trump's statements as "racist and a call for ethnic cleansing, with the aim of liquidating the Palestinian cause and denying our people's established national rights."
Since January 25, Trump has been promoting a plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan, which was rejected by both countries, and was joined by other Arab countries and regional and international organizations.
Hamas added in its statement that "the plan to deport our people from Gaza will not succeed, and will be met with a unified Palestinian, Arab and Islamic position that rejects all displacement plans."
She added: "Our great people in Gaza have stood firm in the face of the bombing and aggression, and will remain steadfast on their land, and will thwart all plans for forced displacement and deportation."
She stressed that "what the occupation failed to achieve through aggression and massacres, it will not succeed in achieving through liquidation and displacement plans."
The movement pointed out that it is "committed to the ceasefire agreement that the occupation committed to, which was sponsored and guaranteed by the mediators Egypt, Qatar and the United States, and witnessed by the international community."
She stressed that "the occupation is the party that did not abide by its commitments, and it bears responsibility for any complications or delays."
On Monday, Trump threatened to open what he called the "gates of hell" and cancel the ceasefire agreement if all Israeli prisoners in Gaza were not released by 12:00 noon (10:00 GMT) next Saturday.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent warning signals to Hamas, saying in a televised speech on Tuesday after a four-hour cabinet meeting that he had instructed the army on Monday evening to mobilize forces inside and around the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that "this move is ongoing at this time, and will be completed as soon as possible."
Netanyahu vowed that "if Hamas does not return our kidnapped soldiers by Saturday afternoon, the ceasefire will be ended, and the Israeli army will resume fighting at full force."
While Netanyahu did not specify the number of prisoners he was demanding Hamas release on Saturday, Israeli Army Radio quoted unnamed Israeli officials earlier on Tuesday evening as saying, "If Hamas releases 3 kidnapped persons on Saturday, the first phase of the agreement will continue."
On Monday, Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced the postponement of the handover of the Israeli prisoners scheduled to be released next Saturday until further notice, due to Tel Aviv’s violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
