UNRWA: 40,000 Palestinians displaced from West Bank camps

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Monday that Israeli operations in the occupied West Bank have displaced 40,000 Palestinians so far from the Jenin, Tulkarm, Nur Shams and Far'a camps, noting that the forced displacement of Palestinians in the northern West Bank is escalating at an "alarming" rate.

The agency added, in a statement, that Israeli forces began carrying out large-scale operations in the occupied West Bank in mid-2023, and since then, thousands of families have been forcibly displaced.

UNRWA stressed that repeated and destructive Israeli security operations have rendered refugee camps “uninhabitable,” and reiterated its call for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure at all times, noting that “collective punishment is absolutely unacceptable.”
