Palestinian refugees where to?
The refugee issue is a central axis in the Palestinian cause, in light of the catastrophes imposed by Israel, which witnessed the largest campaigns of displacement, expulsion and ethnic cleansing since 1948, through 1967, and up to the current year, which also witnessed the racist Israeli campaigns that preceded it in 23 and 24, which are still ongoing, through which Israel, with the help of the United States, targets Palestinian refugees and displaced persons, in dangerous attempts to deepen their crises and catastrophes, in what can be described as the greatest political, social and humanitarian tragedy in history.
Israel, by force of occupation, has prevented the refugees from returning to their homes and houses, and the story of the refugees who were forcibly distributed to numerous camps in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, has remained the basic pillar of any fair and just solution to the Palestinian issue.
While Palestinian refugees lack the most basic human rights, suffer from the lack of adequate international protection and assistance, and pay the price of asylum in a double manner, whether abroad or at home, due to the racist occupation measures, Israel has been more determined than ever in the war on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to eliminate the existence of the displaced and forced them to flee their homes that were destroyed by the language of war. They then left the tents in which they had settled temporarily for successive journeys of displacement and eviction.
Israel has designed a plan that carries disastrous effects and consequences on the lives and future of Palestinian refugees, after it began yesterday, falsely and slanderously, the decision to ban UNRWA from working in Palestine, which will deprive Palestinian refugees of their basic needs and services provided by UNRWA, as it is the largest international humanitarian organization that supports the Palestinians. Despite the United Nations’ confirmation of UNRWA’s neutrality, Israel insisted on withdrawing and ending the residency visas of the agency’s employees in Jerusalem, amid the agency’s determination to continue its work in the West Bank and Gaza, in order to provide relief and assistance to the afflicted and the bereaved, and to provide its life-saving services.
The chapters of the Nakba continue with the continuous threats from the American president, who is obsessed with the necessity of displacing the residents of the Gaza Strip to foreign countries. This is a dangerous targeting of the Palestinian people’s cause and their right to return and deepening the refugee issue, in addition to the ongoing aggression on the Jenin and Tulkarm camps, which Israel threatens to expand to include other camps. All the measures, attacks, and campaigns of burning, destroying, and blowing up homes and deporting citizens aim primarily to displace the Palestinians and eliminate all the components of their lives, as the camps live in difficult and catastrophic conditions, and the citizens suffer from the lack of basic services, such as water, electricity, communications, medicine, and a severe shortage of food, drinking water, and baby milk, in addition to targeting the infrastructure by the occupation bulldozers. The question is: To what extent will the Cairo meeting dedicated to the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Emirates, the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the Arab League succeed? The meeting will discuss efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and to provide sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip, and to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). UNRWA and enabling it to carry out its international mandate to achieve decisive results, to compel Israel to lift the decision to ban the international agency, and to cancel Trump’s idea of displacing the Palestinians?
