Steve Witkoff, the US President's envoy to the Middle East, expressed his hope on Thursday that the ceasefire agreement in Gaza would hold until the end.

Asked by reporters upon his arrival at the gathering place for the families of the Israeli prisoners in Tel Aviv whether he hoped the ceasefire agreement in Gaza would hold until the end, he said: "I hope it will hold."

"President Trump is committed to doing everything possible to help families," he added.

Regarding efforts to return Israeli prisoners who hold American citizenship, he said: "They are at the top of the priorities."

"One of them will be released tomorrow," he added, without giving further details.

It is noteworthy that the fourth batch of prisoner exchange will take place on Saturday.

Earlier today, the Al-Qassam Brigades handed over Israeli soldier Agam Berger to the Red Cross after she was taken out of a building destroyed by Israeli shelling in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Al-Qassam Brigades announced on Wednesday evening that it would release on Thursday the soldiers Berger, Arbel Yehud and Musa Moses, in the southern Gaza Strip, in exchange for 110 Palestinian prisoners.

This came as part of the third batch of prisoners to be released in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.

Witkov arrived in Israel yesterday, met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and visited the Gaza Strip.

Today, Witkow met with Israeli Finance Minister and leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party, Bezalel Smotrich.

On January 19, the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel came into effect, with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

The agreement consists of 3 stages, each lasting 42 days, during which negotiations will take place to start a second and third stage, leading to the end of the war of extermination.
