Netanyahu thanks Trump for lifting ban on bombs ordered by Tel Aviv

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President Donald Trump on Sunday for lifting the ban on the supply of bombs that Israel had requested.

“Thank you for keeping your promise to give Israel the tools it needs to defend itself, confront our common enemies, and secure a future of peace and prosperity,” Netanyahu said in a post on Twitter.

For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron informed Netanyahu that Israeli companies would be allowed to participate in the Paris Air Show, Netanyahu's office said after a phone call between the two leaders today.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that "the French president assured the prime minister that Israeli companies will be able to participate in the Paris Air Show."

The statement added that Macron and Netanyahu also discussed "various topics, including the latest developments in Lebanon and Gaza," without adding further details.

The Elysee did not immediately comment on this conversation.

Disagreements arose between the two parties last year, against the backdrop of Macron imposing restrictions on the participation of Israeli companies in the exhibition held in the city of Le Bourget in the suburbs of Paris, and his call to impose restrictions on arms to Israel due to the war in the Gaza Strip.

Last May, the participation of Israeli arms manufacturers in the Eurosatory exhibition was cancelled based on a decision by the French government in the midst of the war in the Gaza Strip.

A ruling issued by the Commercial Court, which was upheld on appeal, overturned this decision.

In October, the courts overturned the decision of the organizers of the Euronaval exhibition, who were forced to reverse their decision to ban the participation of some Israeli companies that display weapons and military equipment.

The organizers said their decision came at the request of the French government.

The French government confirmed that Israeli companies are welcome, but without being able to display offensive weapons used in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
