A Lebanese soldier was killed and another was injured by the occupation forces' bullets
The Lebanese army announced, today, Sunday, the death of a soldier and the injury of another by Israeli occupation army fire in the south of the country.
The army said in a statement on the "X" platform: "One soldier was killed on the Marouhin-Dahra-Tyre road, and another was injured in the town of Mays al-Jabal-Marjeyoun, as a result of being targeted by gunfire from the Israeli enemy."
The army explained that the Israeli shooting comes "in the context of its ongoing attacks on citizens and army personnel in the southern border areas."
Earlier, the United Nations said that the deadline stipulated in the November ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah had not been met.
This came in a joint statement by the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and the Head of the UNIFIL Mission and its Commander-in-Chief, General Aroldo Lazaro.
The UN statement said: "We saw tragically this morning that conditions are not yet in place for the safe return of citizens to their villages located along the Blue Line."
At dawn on Sunday, the 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of the occupation army that had penetrated southern Lebanon ended, according to the ceasefire agreement that entered into force on November 27, 2024, while Israeli forces continued to be present in some border areas in southern Lebanon, in clear violation of the agreement.
