Demolition everywhere

Israel's continued demolition of homes and their erasure from the Palestinian map in the Gaza Strip is one of the most dangerous plans for forced displacement and ethnic cleansing to prevent the citizens of the Strip from returning to their destroyed homes, especially in the northern part of the Strip.

Every day, we see images of Palestinian cities, towns and camps where Israel has destroyed tens of thousands of homes, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless, except for the tents provided to the displaced, but they do not correspond to normal living conditions at all, as all the citizens of the Strip live basically below the poverty line, and with the demolition of their homes, the situation has become tragic and very harsh.

The decision taken by Israel to demolish the homes of Palestinians aims to displace them and make their living conditions more difficult. This is what Israel seeks to do in order to impose a second, third and fourth Nakba on the citizens of the Strip. All the rumors about an Israeli desire to cease fire and prepare to withdraw from some axes in the Strip and reach an agreement seem to be mere maneuvers to silence the Israeli street, which is putting strong pressure on its government to formalize a swap deal. However, the pressures of extremists seem to be obstructing any agreement, and Netanyahu himself is not interested in the deal. Instead, and behind the scenes, he wants to continue the war.

The Israeli army's decision yesterday to return the 98th Division forces to the Gaza Strip after ending its aggression on southern Lebanon reveals the truth of the Israeli intentions that are panting after more destruction, displacement and daily killing, with ongoing massacres and huge numbers of martyrs and wounded.

The Israeli demolition policy is an immoral practice that the occupation began with the June setback. It violates international law and is considered a collective punishment of the Palestinians. The number of homes demolished by the occupation is estimated at more than 120,000 since 1967, more than half of which were demolished in the Gaza Strip during the current war, either completely or partially. Despite the criticism of human rights organizations and United Nations bodies of these measures, Israel is continuing with them everywhere, including the West Bank, including Jerusalem, which witnessed yesterday a demolition massacre that affected 16 facilities in Anata and the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, which Israel also seeks to erase from the Palestinian map, as part of the policy of collective punishment that aims to expel and displace Palestinians.

The occupation army’s claims that the demolition of homes is a deterrent operation or to combat what it claims is terrorism are considered incorrect, according to international organizations that accuse the Israeli government and the Israeli army of other motives for this. If the current war does not stop immediately, the ongoing demolition massacres will destroy the lives of Palestinians and will increase the harsh burdens that more than two and a half million citizens in Gaza are living.
