Trump appoints Lebanese son-in-law as Middle East advisor
US President-elect Donald Trump appointed Lebanese-American businessman Massad Boulos as his senior adviser for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs on Sunday, bringing a new member of the family to a key position in the administration.
“I am proud to announce that Massad Boulos will serve as the President’s Senior Advisor for Arab and Middle East Affairs,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. The appointment gives Boulos, who is the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany, a senior position in the White House.
Paul, Trump's son-in-law, met repeatedly with Arab and Muslim American leaders during the election campaign.
This is the second time in recent days that Trump has chosen one of his sons-in-law for positions in his administration. He previously chose real estate mogul Charles Kushner, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, to serve as US ambassador to France.
In recent months, Paul has campaigned for Trump to rally support from Lebanese and Arab Americans despite U.S. support for Israel's military campaign against Hezbollah.
