Wall Street Journal: Egypt discusses reopening Rafah crossing with Tel Aviv

The American newspaper "Wall Street Journal" quoted Arab officials as saying that Egypt is holding talks with Tel Aviv to reopen the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip, as part of a new effort that would allow more aid to flow into the Strip and create movement toward a broader agreement to stop the fighting there.

According to the newspaper, Egyptian officials visited Tel Aviv during the past few days to discuss reopening the Rafah crossing, and discussing a new proposal being developed for the exchange deal and ceasefire in Gaza.

Officials expect the Rafah crossing to be reopened in early December, if an agreement is reached between Egypt and the Israeli occupation.

The new Egyptian proposal includes a ceasefire for at least 60 days, allows Tel Aviv to maintain a military presence in areas in the Strip, and begins a prisoner exchange 7 days after the ceasefire.
