Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor documents field executions in northern Gaza
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said that it documented dozens of new premeditated murders and field executions carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against a large number of civilians in the northern Gaza Strip as part of its escalating aggression, within the framework of the genocide it has been carrying out against the Palestinians for more than 13 months.
The Observatory explained in a statement today, Saturday, that the Israeli army has continued for 43 days to carry out its third military invasion and attack against the northern Gaza Strip and its residents, committing heinous atrocities that include killing civilians, terrorizing them, forcibly expelling them from their homes, and forcibly displacing them outside the northern Gaza Governorate, as part of one of the largest forced displacement operations in modern times.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor defines itself as an independent, non-profit organization that defends human rights in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, and supports victims of armed conflicts, occupation, displaced persons, refugees and asylum seekers resulting from conflicts and violations, especially vulnerable groups such as women and children.
Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor highlighted that among the many crimes committed by the Israeli forces, which included bombing homes over the heads of their residents and killing them en masse, killing displaced people in shelters, and targeting gatherings and vehicles, its field team documented cases of direct killing and extrajudicial executions carried out by Israeli soldiers against civilians without any justification.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor field team documented the killing of Khaled Mustafa Ismail Al-Shafei (58 years old) and his eldest son Ibrahim (21 years old) by the Israeli army after shooting them inside their home in front of their family members in Beit Lahia last Wednesday.
The wife of the martyr Khaled Al-Shafei said, "They ordered us to leave quickly. I tried to pull my husband and son. They refused to let anyone approach them, and threatened us to leave at gunpoint. This happened in front of the young children, whose father and brother were executed in front of them. They were 4 boys and 4 girls."
Until this testimony is documented, the bodies of the man and his son are still at the place of their execution, as the family or rescue crews have not been able to reach them, according to the Observatory’s statement.
International deficit
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor highlighted that thousands of Palestinians besieged in the northern Gaza Strip are suffering from hunger and fear, and those who are injured often cannot be transferred for treatment or even treated in the field, so a large number of them die slowly due to the lack of life-saving medical care.
Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor indicated that it documented the presence of dozens of victims who were killed under the rubble after their homes were bombed, and there were no medical or civil defense teams available to rescue them, as the Israeli occupation forces continue to prevent humanitarian teams from working for 25 days.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reiterated that the international system’s reluctance to take decisive decisions regarding Israel’s massacres in the Gaza Strip, especially in the north, makes it a partner in these crimes and represents a green light for Israel to proceed with escalating the crime of genocide, and also reflects a shocking disregard for the lives and dignity of the Palestinians.
The Observatory pointed out that the international system, including the International Criminal Court, the European Union and various United Nations organizations, have all “failed” to achieve the basic goals and principles on which they were founded, and have demonstrated a shameful failure over the course of 13 months to commit to protecting civilians and stopping the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinians in Gaza, which is supposed to be at the core of its work and the reason for its existence.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called on the United Nations and the international community to intervene immediately to save hundreds of thousands of residents of northern Gaza, stop the genocide committed by Israel for the second year in a row, impose a comprehensive arms embargo on it, hold it accountable and punish it for all its crimes, and take all effective measures to protect Palestinian civilians there.
On October 5, the Israeli occupation army began a ground invasion in the northern Gaza Strip, under the pretext of "preventing Hamas from regaining its strength in the region."
Palestinians say that Israel wants to occupy the northern Gaza Strip and turn it into a buffer zone after displacing its residents, under the pressure of continuous bloody bombing and a tight siege that prevents the entry of food, water and medicine.
This operation caused the health system to go out of service, in addition to stopping the work of the Civil Defense and the ambulances of the Palestinian Red Crescent.
