Israeli Knesset passes law targeting Palestinian education
The Israeli Knesset plenum approved, on Tuesday, in the second and third readings, a bill that allows the Israeli Minister of Education to issue an order to stop any budgets for schools that “identify with any terrorist act.”
The bill mainly targets Palestinian schools in occupied Jerusalem and the occupied interior.
The law also stipulates that the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Education can immediately dismiss any teacher or administrative employee who shows “identification with any terrorist organization or terrorists,” or publishes “words of praise and sympathy.”
The law was approved by a majority of 55 in favor and 45 against.
