Malaysia prepares draft resolution to expel Israel from UN

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that his country is preparing a draft resolution to submit to the United Nations General Assembly to expel Israel from the United Nations if it continues to violate international law regarding Palestine.

Ibrahim added in a session of the Malaysian parliament today, Monday, that the negotiation process on this draft is currently underway, and it is expected to be presented to the United Nations General Assembly for approval.

On 31 October 2024, Malaysia joined the “core group” that prepared the draft resolution requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice regarding Israel’s obligation to allow the activities of UN organizations.

He explained that if the project is accepted in the UN General Assembly, it will pave the way for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to continue providing aid to Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
