Israel warns Iran against attacking it again

Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned Iran against responding to the airstrikes launched by Israel on Saturday morning.

"If Iran makes the mistake of launching another missile barrage at Israel, we will again know how to reach Iran, with capabilities we have not used until this time," Halevi said in a speech Tuesday to air and ground force personnel who took part in the strike.

Last Saturday morning, Israel launched air strikes on military sites in Tehran and other Iranian cities.

Tehran admitted that 4 soldiers and one civilian were killed in the Israeli raids, which it said its air defenses successfully confronted.

Saturday's strikes came in response to a major missile attack launched by Iran in early October on military bases in Israel in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July.

Earlier, Washington warned Iran against launching a new attack on Israel.

But Iran informed the United Nations of its intention to respond to the Israeli strikes based on its legitimate right to preserve its sovereignty in accordance with international laws.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed to respond to the Israeli attack.
