Guterres expresses deep concern over Israel's attack on Iran

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his deep concern over the attack carried out by Israel on Iran.

This came in a press statement issued by Stephane Dujarric, Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, on Saturday.

Dujarric said Guterres was deeply concerned about the continued escalation in the Middle East, following the Israeli military's overnight attacks on targets in Iran.

He pointed out that "all acts of escalation are condemned and must stop."

According to the statement, Guterres urgently renewed his call to all parties to cease all military actions, including in Gaza and Lebanon, and to make every effort to prevent the outbreak of a comprehensive regional war, and to return to the path of diplomacy.

On Saturday morning, the Israeli army announced the end of the attack against Iran, 4 hours after it began, while Iran confirmed that it had successfully confronted "the Zionist entity's attempts to attack some points in the capital, Tehran, and the country."

Tasnim News Agency, which is close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, reported that "the Iranian army reported the killing of two soldiers in the Israeli attack at dawn today."
