The Jerusalem Governorate said that 8 citizens were killed, the occupation carried out 304 arrests, 154 demolition and bulldozing operations, and 16,138 settlers stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the third quarter of this year.
The governorate added in a report issued today, Thursday, on the occupation's crimes during the third quarter of 2024, that the occupation's violations focused on brutal executions, arrests, actual imprisonment decisions, demolitions, eviction decisions, deportation, and house arrest, in addition to daily incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Settler attacks:
During the third quarter of 2024, the Jerusalem Governorate recorded about 33 attacks by settlers in the governorate, including 7 attacks involving physical harm.
Injuries:
The Jerusalem Governorate monitored the injuries resulting from the occupation’s use of excessive force against Jerusalemites. About (36) injuries were monitored as a result of live and rubber-coated metal bullets and severe beatings, in addition to cases of suffocation from toxic gas.
Crimes and violations in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque:
In a clear and explicit violation of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the settlers’ incursions continue during the third quarter of 2024, as 16,138 settlers and 10,741 under the name of “tourism” stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the de facto situation imposed by the occupation and called the morning and evening periods, with the support of the occupation forces.
Excavations under Al-Aqsa Mosque and preventing restoration:
In August, a stone fell from the wall of the Tankaziyya School onto the occupied Buraq Wall plaza west of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation said that the fall of the ancient stone was due to water leaking from the roof of the school, which put pressure on the stones and the material binding them together.
During September, the occupation continued excavation and Judaization work in the Umayyad palaces area south of the Qibli Mosque and adjacent to the wall of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Targeting national figures in Jerusalem:
During the third quarter, the occupation authorities continued to target the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, who has been subjected to an open-ended house arrest since August 4, 2022, without specifying a time period for the decision. On September 22, the occupation authorities renewed the decision to prevent the governor from entering the West Bank for the sixth consecutive year for a period of four months, after summoning him for investigation.
It is noteworthy that five military decisions have been issued against Governor Ghaith since he assumed his duties in 2018, in addition to a sixth decision to detain him under house arrest for more than two years until now, all of which have been renewed periodically.
The occupation authorities targeted the preacher of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, as the so-called Minister of the Interior of the occupation, Moshe Arbel, demanded that the Jerusalem residency be withdrawn from Sheikh Sabri, and the extremist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, demanded that the occupation police investigate Sheikh Sabri, and arrested him and released him on condition that he be removed from the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The occupation intelligence handed the Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Jerusalem, Shadi Al-Mutawwar, a decision to renew his ban from the West Bank for a new period of 6 months. It is noteworthy that the occupation has been imposing military decisions on Al-Mutawwar for more than 5 years and they are renewed periodically every 6 months.
Arrest cases:
During the third quarter of 2024, about (304) arrests were monitored in all areas of the Jerusalem Governorate, including (20) children and (16) women.
The occupation also arrested more than 50 Palestinian workers on the pretext of entering Jerusalem without permits.
The occupation courts impose unfair decisions on the detainees, ranging from issuing actual prison sentences, imposing house arrest, in addition to deportation decisions and heavy fines. The occupation court issued travel bans against some of them, and extended the detention of a large number of detainees for long months and perhaps years without bringing charges.
Actual imprisonment:
The report monitored the racist occupation courts issuing (88) actual prison sentences against Jerusalemite detainees, including (54) administrative detention sentences. Among the most prominent sentences issued by the occupation authorities during July was the sentence issued against the child Ayham Nawaf al-Salaymeh (12 years old) to 12 months of actual prison after spending 14 months in house arrest.
House arrest:
8 house arrest decisions were issued by the occupation authorities during the third quarter of this year.
Deportation decisions:
During the third quarter, the occupation authorities issued 30 deportation decisions, 16 of which were to deport people from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Travel ban decisions:
The occupation uses security reasons to prevent citizens from traveling, especially in occupied Jerusalem. During the third quarter of 2024, the occupation prevented the two Jerusalemite women, Hanadi Halwani and Khadija Khweis, from traveling.
It is noteworthy that two travel bans were issued against Halwani, one in July and the other in August.
Demolition, bulldozing and property seizure:
During the third quarter of 2024, the number of demolitions in the Jerusalem Governorate amounted to (154) demolition and leveling operations, including: (24 forced self-demolition operations) and (118 demolition operations carried out by the occupation mechanisms), in addition to 12 leveling operations.
During the third quarter, the occupation authorities delivered more than 50 demolition notices in the Bab al-Amud area, the town of Jabal al-Mukaber, Anata, Shuafat camp, the al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan, the village of al-Issawiya, the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood, the town of Kafr Aqab, the town of Hizma, the al-Khunaidiq area, and Ras al-Nader in the town of Beit Anan, northwest of occupied Jerusalem.
Crimes and violations against Jerusalem institutions and landmarks
In continuous attempts to undermine the efforts of Jerusalemites inside the occupied capital, the occupation continued during the third quarter of this year the policy of closing the institutions operating there and suppressing the activities that prove the presence of Jerusalemites and their steadfastness in the occupied city.
Among the attacks against Jerusalem’s institutions and landmarks: attacks against educational institutions, students, and cultural events, targeting medical and media institutions, attacks on journalists, in addition to obliterating the city’s landmarks, and tightening the noose on UNRWA and its institutions.
Colonial projects:
In its relentless and insanely accelerating pursuit to impose a new reality on the occupied city of Jerusalem and Judaize it through the implementation of dangerous colonial projects, during the third quarter the occupation government approved two new colonial projects, the occupation authorities opened two projects that had been worked on previously, and settlers established two new colonial outposts.
