Hezbollah announces its clash with an Israeli infantry force in southern Lebanon
Hezbollah announced, at dawn on Wednesday, that it had confronted an Israeli force that had tried to infiltrate the town of Adaisseh in the Marjeyoun district in the Nabatieh Governorate in southern Lebanon, inflicting losses on it and forcing it to retreat.
This is the first time that Hezbollah has announced that it has clashed with an Israeli infantry force since Tel Aviv announced the start of a military operation in southern Lebanon, at dawn on Tuesday.
No ground incursion by Israeli forces was observed throughout Tuesday, while Hezbollah denied Tel Aviv's allegations in this regard, stressing that no direct clashes took place between its elements and the Israeli army in southern Lebanon at that time.
This came in a statement published by Hezbollah via the Telegram platform.
In a statement published by Hezbollah on the Telegram platform, the party said that its fighters confronted "at dawn on Wednesday, an Israeli infantry force that tried to infiltrate the town of Adaisseh from the direction of Khallet al-Mahafer, and clashed with it and inflicted losses on it (it did not specify), and forced it to retreat."
He explained that this comes "in support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people."
With full American support, Israel has been waging a war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in more than 138,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
To demand an end to this war, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, have been exchanging daily shelling with the Israeli army since October 8 across the “Blue Line” separating the two sides, resulting in a total of 1,873 deaths, including children and women, and 9,134 wounded, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
In response to this bombing, Israel has intensified its aggression against Lebanon since September 23, which has left no less than 1,073 dead, including children and women, and 2,955 wounded, in addition to more than a million displaced people, according to Anadolu Agency’s monitoring of Lebanese authorities’ data.
