The Ministerial Committee in charge of international action to stop the war on Gaza meets in Amman

The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee tasked with international action to stop the war on Gaza held a coordination meeting in the Jordanian capital, Amman, today, Wednesday, with the participation of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mohammad Mustafa, to enhance the efforts of Arab and Islamic action with many countries of the world to support the embodiment of the Palestinian state and end the occupation.

The meeting discussed the evaluation of the previous stage and the important efforts made by the committee, the most recent of which was the ministerial meeting held in Madrid and the important statement issued by it, which emphasized the move towards a two-state solution, and the joint Arab-Islamic move during the work of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in New York this month, in order to stop the occupation’s aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and the escalation in the West Bank.

Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said in a press conference that the committee's meeting comes within the framework of consultative coordination before the meetings of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in order to coordinate Arab positions to mobilize significant international support for the Palestinian cause.

He pointed out that the main objective of this committee is to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, end the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, ensure the adequate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, end the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, and violations of the legal and historical status quo in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and stop the slide towards a regional war.

Safadi added: We will go to the General Assembly with a number of clear positions and demands and we will hold several meetings there, as the first priority is to stop the aggression on Gaza, stop the escalation in the West Bank and in Lebanon as well, and clarify the danger of continuing to allow this Israeli government, the most extremist even in Israel's history, to push the region towards the abyss.

He pointed out that there will be another meeting on the sidelines of the General Assembly meetings to push for recognition of the State of Palestine and its obtaining full membership in the United Nations.

He continued: Our message to the world is that they are allowing an extremist Israeli government to violate international and humanitarian law, violate the rights of the Palestinian people, and desecrate their sanctities, thus pushing the entire region towards the abyss. It is time for the world to take practical steps to prove that there is a price for the continuation of these Israeli policies and measures, which disregard all human values, defy the decisions of the International Court of Justice, and do not fulfill its duties as an occupying power.

The Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee was formed by a decision of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on November 11, 2023, and includes: Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, and the Secretaries-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.

Since its assignment, the Committee has made 14 visits to the capitals of the permanent members of the Security Council and European capitals, and held meetings with heads of state and government and foreign ministers, to mobilize an international position to stop the war on Gaza, protect civilians, maintain the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip, and take effective steps to implement the two-state solution.
