72 sheep die after settlers poison drinking water in West Bank
72 sheep died on Saturday after Israeli settlers poisoned drinking water in the Arab al-Malihat community, northwest of the city of Jericho, east of the occupied West Bank.
According to local sources, "settlers deliberately put poison in the water that the sheep were drinking from, in the Arab al-Malihat community, northwest of Jericho, which caused the death of 72 of them."
The sources stated that the incident occurred on Friday night, and that the sheep belonged to citizens.
She added, "This attack is part of ongoing attacks by settlers targeting Palestinian farmers and their property, with the aim of pressuring them and displacing them from their lands."
She pointed out that "Bedouin communities are exposed to increasing and diverse pressures from settlers, as part of the occupation governments' policies to displace them and empty them of their population."
According to data from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission (governmental), settler attacks after October 7, 2023, led to “the martyrdom of 19 Palestinians, the injury of more than 785, and the displacement of 26 Bedouin communities.”
According to Israeli estimates, more than 720,000 settlers live in settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
