"Prisoners Authority": Continuous suffering of sick detainees in Israeli "Ramla Prison"

The Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Affairs Authority said that detainees in the "Ramla Prison Clinic" suffer from poor health conditions, in light of deliberate medical neglect, and deprivation of medication and treatment.

The Commission based its report issued today, Sunday, on two cases of detainees suffering inside the prison clinic, where a policy of slow killing is practiced against them, such as the case of detainee Ibrahim Al-Na’anish from Tulkarm camp, who was arrested after being injured in an explosion by the occupation army, where he sustained severe injuries to the abdomen and back, and underwent surgery to cut part of his intestines, and there are still many shrapnel in his body that have resulted in permanent ulcers in the back and foot area, and he cannot feel his feet, and moves around in a wheelchair.

As for the detainee Muhammad Khudairat from the town of Dhahiriya in the Hebron Governorate, he has been suffering from lymphoma since 2009. On 02/05/2024, he underwent a bone marrow transplant. The prison administration is required to provide him with biological doses and medication on an ongoing basis, but since his arrest until the visit yesterday, nothing has been provided to him. Despite the seriousness of his health condition, he was transferred to Ofer Prison.

The Commission warned of the international institutional and official failure towards Palestinian detainees in general and the sick in particular, stressing the need for rapid and serious intervention to force the occupying state to abide by international laws and norms that concern the rights of sick prisoners.

It is noteworthy that the number of sick detainees exceeded 800 detainees, including those suffering from cancer and tumors of varying degrees, in addition to dozens and hundreds of wounded people, and those who suffer from torture since October 7 until today.
