With the participation of 100 aircraft: Israel launches a preemptive strike against Hezbollah, and the latter launches hundreds of missiles
The Israeli army launched preemptive strikes on Hezbollah sites inside Lebanon at dawn on Sunday.
The Israeli army claimed that it attacked targets after detecting suspicious movements by the party.
Israeli sources said that what was attacked were missile launch pads that were apparently prepared to launch missiles at 5 a.m. towards Tel Aviv and other areas.
She explained that the attack began at 4:45 a.m., 15 minutes before Hezbollah's attack.
Israeli Army Radio quoted senior security officials as saying: Hezbollah planned to launch an attack with hundreds of rockets and missiles towards the center of the country at 5:00 a.m., and about half an hour before, the preemptive strike by the air force began.
She explained that about 100 warplanes participated in the attack to thwart the threat within minutes and prevent a large-scale attack.
She pointed out that more than 200 targets were attacked in a short period in southern Lebanon.
After the attack, Israeli sites in the Upper Galilee, Lower Galilee and the Golan Heights were hit by hundreds of missiles and a number of drones.
Hezbollah said it launched more than 300 first-stage missiles, while drones reached their targets.
According to Israeli sources, damage was caused to many of the targeted sites.
