Video shows Israeli soldiers burning copies of the Qur’an and blowing up mosques in Gaza
Scenes captured by Israeli soldiers’ cameras and occupation drones showed violations against mosques in the Gaza Strip, including the burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an.
Pictures published by the Qatari Al Jazeera channel on Friday, August 23, 2024, showed Israeli soldiers storming the Bani Saleh Mosque in northern Gaza and burning all the Qur’ans inside it. The pictures also show the occupation blowing up the Grand Mosque in the city of Khan Yunis, which is one of the oldest mosques in the Gaza Strip.
The photos indicate that Israel targeted all mosques in the Gaza Strip, either by shelling or by bombing, during its ongoing aggression for 10 months.
The photos show the occupation blowing up the Grand Mosque in Khan Yunis, one of the oldest mosques in the Strip, which was built 96 years ago, meaning that the Grand Mosque of Khan Yunis is two decades older than the occupation state.
Other photos showed Israeli soldiers storming the Bani Saleh Mosque in the northern Gaza Strip and burning all the copies of the Qur’an inside the mosque.
Israeli aircraft destroyed the historic Omari Mosque in the old city of Gaza, which is one of the oldest mosques in the world.
According to the Government Information Office in Gaza, since October 7, the occupation has completely destroyed 609 mosques and partially destroyed 211 mosques.
As part of the occupation's declared war on places of worship, 3 churches were destroyed in Gaza, including the Church of Saint Porphyrius, the third oldest church in the world.
The occupation did not stop at destroying mosques only, but also bombed mosques and demolished them on the heads of worshippers, such as the massacre of the Ihya al-Sunna Mosque in the Zeitoun neighborhood last November, in addition to the massacre of the Al-Abyad Mosque prayer hall in the Shati camp last month.
With American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 133,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
