Civil Defense in Gaza: Massacres are being committed in Mawasi Al-Qarara, west of Khan Yunis
The Civil Defense Authority in Gaza announced on Wednesday that the Israeli army is committing massacres west of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, following a sudden incursion by its vehicles and random shooting towards the tents of the displaced in the area that was previously claimed to be a "safe humanitarian area."
Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said in a statement: "Massacres are taking place now (Wednesday) against the displaced in the Mawasi al-Qarara area in Khan Yunis," without giving further details.
A civil defense source added that "the crews are unable to reach the area due to Israeli targeting."
Field sources reported that "Israeli military vehicles suddenly penetrated west of Al-Qarara, near the tents of the displaced."
It continued: "Israeli tanks advanced towards the tents of the displaced at the end of Al-Tina Street, or what is known as (Chalets) Street, in the Mawasi area of Al-Qarara town, northwest of Khan Yunis, amidst intense gunfire."
According to the same sources, the Israeli army "injured and besieged a large number of displaced persons in the area," amid a large exodus from the area in an atmosphere of panic and fear.
Medical sources also said that a number of displaced people "were injured when Israeli vehicles opened fire on their tents in the area."
Last Friday, the Israeli army issued evacuation orders from eastern Deir al-Balah and new areas in Khan Yunis, including al-Qarara, Hamad City, and areas in al-Mawasi, which led to a reduction in the area that it had previously claimed was “safe,” amid warnings from human rights organizations of the repercussions of these orders and the offensive military operations that would follow.
According to UN data, 9 out of 10 people living in Gaza have been displaced by Israeli attacks.
The displaced people live in very difficult living and health conditions, in light of the difficulty of their access to basic supplies.
This comes as Israel continues to commit massacres against the displaced, as the government media office said on Tuesday that the army committed 3 massacres that resulted in the killing of 25 Palestinians in different areas of the Strip.
