Safadi in a call with Blinken: Stopping the aggression on Gaza is a priority to reduce escalation in the region

Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi stressed that stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza is the priority and the first step that must be achieved to reduce the escalation that threatens security and peace in the region.

In a phone call with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Wednesday, Safadi stressed the need to stop all illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank, and Israeli violations of the historical and legal status quo in Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, warning of the danger of these measures that kill all chances of achieving peace.

He pointed out that Jordan will take all necessary measures to stop attacks on holy sites, and is preparing the necessary legal files to take action in international courts against attacks on holy sites, which constitute a clear violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that Jordan will confront by all possible means.

During the phone call, Safadi and Blinken discussed the serious deterioration in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and its holy sites, and the need to take effective practical steps to stop it, in addition to the serious escalation witnessed in the region and the steps required to stop it.

Blinken referred to his country's position, which stresses the necessity of respecting the historical status quo in the holy sites.
