The Doha summit, which brought together mediators to reach an agreement to cease fire in Gaza and release hostages and detainees, has ended. The mediators’ statement said that the two-day summit talks were serious and constructive and were held in a positive atmosphere. The technical teams will continue to work in the coming days on implementation details, including arrangements for implementing the comprehensive humanitarian aspects of the agreement, in addition to the aspects related to hostages and detainees. Senior American, Egyptian and Qatari officials will meet in Cairo before the end of next week, hoping to reach an agreement according to the conditions that were put forward yesterday and the day before in Doha.
The statement of the three leaders concluded by saying that there is no more time to waste and no excuses from any party. It is time to release the hostages and detainees, begin the ceasefire and implement this agreement. Now the way is paved to achieve this result, save lives, provide relief to the people of Gaza and calm regional tensions.
Many and numerous questions and big question marks are raised here, most notably the most prominent question related to protecting lives in the Gaza Strip. Is it reasonable that there will be a positive and constructive atmosphere, and the people of the Gaza Strip will wait for more days until the new summit comes, while they are on a journey of displacement from everywhere to unknown places and without an address, so that Israel continues to kill, slaughter, abuse, injure, arrest, displace and expel them from their homes and tents? Wouldn’t it have been more appropriate for the mediators to extract a ceasefire decision if the intentions were good? This is a just demand so that the fascist criminal war against our Palestinian people stops, and a comprehensive and complete Israeli withdrawal from the Strip is established.
Didn't the mediators say that the way is now paved to achieve the agreement, save lives and provide relief to the people of Gaza? Is it reasonable that providing relief and saving lives in Gaza is linked to another period of time decided by the United States for Israel to continue its series of killings of our people?
The outcome of the Doha Summit does not meet the minimum demands and just rights of our Palestinian people, nor does it conform to what was agreed upon on July 2. Our people’s resistance will not accept anything less than a complete ceasefire and a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and will not accept anything less than a natural return of the displaced and an exchange deal without the occupation’s conditions and objections.
The results of the summit provide an official cover for the occupation to continue its massacres and aggression against our people, while continuing the ban on movement from the south to the north, and imposing unjust decisions on citizens daily to evacuate them from their residential areas, in addition to the decision to keep the Israeli army in the Philadelphi corridor, not to mention that the decisions and the summit itself are merely needles of appeasement in the face of Iran and Hezbollah to not respond to Israel, and thus the summit is postponed from one week to the next, and the aggression remains as it is, rather it intensifies in ferocity and the series of Palestinian bloodshed continues, in the hope that the United States will meet Israel’s demands to achieve its goals, most notably more breaches so that it can wear the cloak of false victory.
The mountain gave birth to a mouse, so the expectations that were pinned on this summit were much greater than what it concluded, and the question that we remind you of is: Who will protect the people of Gaza and the people of Gaza from the machine of war and destruction, until an agreement is reached if the atmosphere is positive as the mediators claim? If the atmosphere was really positive, an immediate ceasefire would have been announced yesterday to protect the citizens from war, but it is clear that Israel got what it wanted from the United States, so it bought more time for the aggression so that the innocent people of Gaza continue to pay the price.
