Israeli settlers attack Palestinians in northern and eastern West Bank

Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian residents in the northern and eastern parts of the occupied West Bank on Friday.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of settlers attacked the residents of the village of Tana, east of Nablus (north), and assaulted them with rifle butts.

Witnesses said that the settlers fired into the air and prevented residents from reaching a water spring used for drinking and irrigating livestock.

They said that at least one Palestinian citizen was injured during the attack.

A video clip circulating on social media shows a group of Palestinians confronted by a number of armed settlers.

In a second incident, settlers attacked the Al-Auja Falls community near the city of Jericho (east), and seized 300 heads of sheep, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.

Witnesses said the assault and robbery occurred at gunpoint.

Earlier today, the official in charge of the settlement file in Tubas Governorate and the northern Jordan Valley, Mutaz Basharat, told Anadolu Agency that 14 families from the Umm al-Jamal community had been displaced from their place of residence due to the escalation of settler attacks.

This was preceded by the martyrdom of a Palestinian by settlers’ gunfire in the town of Jit, east of Qalqilya, last Thursday evening, after they attacked the town and burned vehicles and homes.

The head of the Palestine Liberation Organization's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Mu'ayyad Shaaban, said in a previous statement that 26 Bedouin communities had been displaced due to settler attacks since October 7.

In conjunction with its devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army expanded its operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, while settlers escalated their attacks on Palestinians there, leaving 633 dead and about 5,400 wounded, according to official Palestinian data.

With American support, Israel waged a devastating war on Gaza, leaving more than 132,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.

In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
