Rajoub: Netanyahu seeks to ignite a war in the region in which unconventional weapons may be used

Secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, Jibril Rajoub, said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to ignite a regional war in which unconventional weapons will be used.

This came in a press conference held by Rajoub on Thursday in the city of Al-Bireh in the West Bank, in response to his detention and search last Tuesday at the Karameh border crossing while returning from France to Palestine. He also touched on the latest developments in the Palestinian sports arena.

Rajoub considered that Netanyahu seeks to ignite a regional war in the region in response to his failure, that of his government and his army on October 7, pointing out that the Israeli Prime Minister believes that with these actions he will impose a reaction from the Palestinians and some regional parties, and drag them into war.

He added that it is in the world's interest to pressure Netanyahu, who believes he can impose his agenda that conflicts with the security and peace of the region and the world, by recognizing the right of the Palestinians to live safely in an independent state.

The Palestinian official described Netanyahu as the “Goebbels of the 21st century,” adding that Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir are “Adolf Eichmann,” and all of them speak about the Palestinian people in the worst terms in human history.

Rajoub asked: “Do the descendants of the Holocaust victims have the right to do to the Palestinian people what the Nazis did to their ancestors?” calling for international will to confront the worst version of “twentieth century fascism,” which is “Netanyahu and his racist gang.”

Investigation before Israeli intelligence

Rajoub, who is also the head of the Palestinian Olympic Committee and the Palestinian Football Association, confirmed his refusal to submit to Israeli threats, stressing that he will not comply with the summons he received from the occupation police for investigation before the intelligence, at Ofer camp today, Thursday.

He revealed that he had received threatening calls in Hebrew during the past period, “but I will not give in to them.”

Rajoub explained that he will travel to Egypt today, noting that if the Israelis prevent him from passing, they will be in trouble, in his opinion.
