Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz said, "Jenin refugee camp must be evacuated of civilians and then dealt with as the Gaza Strip is dealt with."

Katz added during a meeting with leaders of the Settlements Council regarding the security situation in the West Bank, that the refugee camps are hotbeds of evil that are not under the control of the Palestinian Authority but rather under the control of Iran.

He claimed that "the eastern borders with Jordan are actually open to smuggling," noting that "a serious barrier must be established on the eastern borders."

The background to the meeting goes back to the measures that the West Bank Settlements Council has taken in recent days to confront the sanctions imposed by some foreign countries, most notably the United States, on some residents of the settlements in the West Bank.
