More than 9,000 Palestinian prisoners face retaliatory measures
The Commission of Prisoners' Affairs and Ex-Prisoners said, "There are more than 9,000 prisoners languishing in Israeli occupation prisons who have been facing unprecedented retaliatory and punitive measures for months now, threatening their fate. Over the years, they have been subjected to all forms and types of systematic torture and abuse that have turned their lives into hell."
The Commission documented, according to a visit by its legal team to a number of prisons and detention centers (Etzion, Megiddo), during the past two days, the practices of the occupation prison administration and the criminal violations against male and female prisoners, the aim of which was to break their resolve, which is considered a violation of all international norms and agreements.
It pointed out that "the punishments against prisoners in the aforementioned prisons also apply to the rest of the occupation prisons, as they include closing sections in all prisons, withdrawing all electrical devices, isolating them from the outside world, cutting off electricity and water to the sections for varying periods, and a shortage of blankets and clothes, as the prisoner only has one change of clothes, and the food provided to them is poor in terms of quantity and quality and does not rise to the human level, and canceling most of the visits that were scheduled for lawyers under the pretext of a state of emergency, and depriving them of going out to the 'break' yard most of the time, and the special units storming the prisoners' sections in a harsh manner, and harming them, and they have recently suffered from high temperatures and the lack of fans in the prison, which has also made it difficult for them to live in the crowded room and the sweat from their bodies and the lack of cleaning materials and the inability to shower regularly has caused the spread of diseases, especially skin diseases.
The Commission renewed its call on all human rights and international institutions to play their real and necessary role in light of the escalation of crimes against male and female detainees in Israeli occupation prisons, and not to be satisfied with documenting and presenting the crimes.
