Israel officially announces the killing of Qassam commander Mohammed Deif, and Hamas responds
The Israeli occupation army officially announced the assassination of the commander-in-chief of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Muhammad al-Deif, in the raid that targeted him two weeks ago in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has not yet confirmed the news.
The occupation army statement added, "We have confirmed the killing of Muhammad Deif, the leader of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in an air strike that targeted him more than two weeks ago in Gaza."
In turn, Hamas said in a statement today, "Confirming or denying the death of any of the Qassam leaders is a matter for the leadership of the Qassam Brigades and the leadership of the movement."
