Prisoners' Institutions: At least 18 Palestinian detainees died since October 7

The Commission of Prisoners' Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association said that no less than (18) detainees whose identities were revealed and announced were dead in the occupation prisons after October 7, in addition to dozens of detainees from Gaza who were martyred in prisons and camps, and the occupation did not disclose their identities and the circumstances of their martyrdom, in addition to dozens who were subjected to field executions. The occupation had admitted several months ago to the execution of one of the detainees.


The prisoners’ institutions explained in a joint statement that (16) detainees who were dead and announced since the beginning of the war of extermination have their bodies withheld, and they are among (27) detainees who were martyrs and whose bodies the occupation continues to withhold.


She pointed out that this data does not include the number of arrests from Gaza, noting that the occupation admitted that it arrested about (4000) citizens from Gaza, hundreds of whom were released, noting that the occupation arrested hundreds of Gaza workers in the West Bank, in addition to citizens from Gaza who were present in the West Bank for the purpose of treatment.


The institutions confirmed that the number of detainees in the occupation prisons reached about (9700), until the beginning of July 2024, while the number of administrative detainees is (3380), and the number of those classified by the occupation prison administration from the Gaza detainees (as illegal combatants) is no less than (1400).


The statement indicated that the number of female detainees in the occupation prisons reached (86) detainees in (Al-Damon) prison only, among them a pregnant woman: (Jihad Dar Nakhleh), and among the detainees (23) are administrative detainees, and there may be detainees in the camps affiliated with the occupation, there is no clear data on their numbers, indicating that among the detainees are at least 250 children.


Regarding the outcome of the arrest campaigns in the West Bank since October 7th until the beginning of this month, the statement explained that the occupation forces arrested more than (9800) in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, including about (340) women and 680 children, while the number of arrests among journalists after October 7th reached (91) journalists, of whom (53) remain in detention, including (6) female journalists, and (16) journalists from Gaza at least whose identities we were able to verify, and among the journalists (17) are under administrative detention.


Since the beginning of the war of extermination, the number of administrative detention orders has reached more than (7500) orders, including new and renewal orders, including orders against children and women.


The prisoners’ institutions confirmed that the ongoing arrest campaigns are accompanied by escalating crimes and violations, including acts of abuse and severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread acts of vandalism and destruction in citizens’ homes, and the seizure of vehicles, money, and gold jewelry, in addition to the widespread destruction of infrastructure, specifically in the Tulkarm camps, Jenin and its camp, and the demolition of homes belonging to detainees’ families, and the use of members of their families as hostages, in addition to the use of detainees as human shields.


The arrest campaigns after October 7 include those arrested from their homes, through military checkpoints, those forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those held hostage.


In addition to these arrest campaigns, the statement confirmed that the occupation forces carried out field executions, including of members of the detainees' families.
