129 Palestinians killed as a result of the Israeli attack on the "safe zone" in Khan Yunis
The government media office in the Gaza Strip announced on Wednesday that 129 Palestinians were killed and more than 416 others were injured during three days of the Israeli army’s operation on the city of Khan Yunis, which it had previously claimed was within “safe areas.”
The office said in a statement: "The new Israeli aggression on the city of Khan Yunis left 129 martyrs and 416 wounded, 100 of whom have not yet reached hospitals, and 44 are missing."
It added: "There are 1,350 appeals from families trapped in Khan Yunis who do not know how to get out because of the Israeli incursion and shooting."
It added: "The occupation bombed 22 inhabited homes over the heads of their residents."
It added: "237 homes and residential buildings were hit by Israeli bombing during the past few days."
It pointed out that "the occupation army is targeting everything that moves on Salah al-Din Street in Khan Yunis, and is obstructing coordination operations to reach the wounded and martyrs."
It explained that "the occupation army is repeatedly committing a crime against humanity regarding displacement, migration and reshaping human geography, in a way that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands of injured, sick, pregnant women, children, the elderly and people with special needs, and exposes them to death."
The office called on the international community and all countries of the world to "stop this shame, these crimes and these massacres immediately and urgently."
On Monday morning, the Israeli army launched a surprise air and artillery attack on the eastern areas of Khan Yunis, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
Intensive Israeli raids continue on the eastern areas of Khan Yunis, which the Israeli army had previously claimed were "safe."
These areas witnessed a large displacement of citizens who fled under the Israeli airstrikes to other places far from the targeted areas, on foot or using primitive means of transportation.
Some time after the attack, the Israeli army ordered Palestinians in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Yunis to "evacuate immediately" and head towards the Al-Mawasi area west of the city.
The Israeli army had classified the areas extending from the west of Salah al-Din Street (east of the city) to the sea in Khan Yunis as “safe areas,” while the evacuation orders included a number of neighborhoods in the eastern areas.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been waging a war on Gaza, resulting in more than 129,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
Tel Aviv continues this war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice orders to end the invasion of the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
