EU in response to the Knesset resolution: The two-state solution is the only solution to achieve peace
The European Union expressed its regret over the decision of the Israeli Knesset, which opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state, even if it is part of a negotiated settlement with Israel.
The European Union confirmed in a press statement on Friday that there is a strong consensus in the international community that the only sustainable solution that will achieve peace and security in the Middle East is the two-state solution.
He stressed his firm commitment to lasting and sustainable peace in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions, including Security Council Resolutions 2735, 2728, 2720 and 2712, on the basis of the two-state solution.
The European Union reiterated that it will not recognize changes to the 1967 borders unless both parties agree to this, in line with its long-standing position and UN Security Council resolutions.
He indicated that he would continue to work actively with international and regional partners to revive the political process to achieve this goal, stressing that the absence of hope or horizon for the Palestinian people will lead to a deepening of the conflict.
