The UK resumes funding to UNRWA
The United Kingdom announced today, Friday, the lifting of the decision to suspend funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and pledged to provide additional support to the agency worth 21 million pounds ($27 million).
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy explained before Parliament, “We are canceling the decision to suspend funding for UNRWA,” adding that the UN agency is “absolutely essential” to providing humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip, which is besieged and destroyed as a result of the Israeli war that has been ongoing for more than 9 months.
