Survival...the biggest challenge in Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned of the repercussions of stopping the work of water desalination plants in the Gaza Strip due to the lack of fuel, which complicates the task of citizens obtaining sufficient water, making the issue of survival the greatest challenge.

The citizens of northern Gaza in particular and most parts of the Gaza Strip in general complain about the scarcity of potable water, as they suffer from its scarcity and what reaches their neighborhoods and streets is little and insufficient due to the Israeli aggression that destroyed the infrastructure of water networks and wells.

The journey to search for water involves a lot of suffering, as young children are forced to travel long distances on foot to fill gallons of water from desalination plants once every three days, and the people call on the world to stand by the people of Gaza and provide them with the necessities of life, especially the diesel needed to operate the desalination plants. ..

The lack of fuel necessary to operate desalination plants constitutes additional suffering, added to a series of serious sufferings, foremost of which is hunger and thirst, which threatens to cast a catastrophic impact on the people of the northern Gaza Strip, especially since the total quantities of water available in the Strip today amount to between 10-20 million. percent of the total water that was available before the aggression, as the Palestinian per capita share of water declined by more than 96 percent.

The rise in temperatures currently affects the daily consumption of water, and this is what the bodies of the citizens of the Gaza Strip require for fear of drought and diseases. The suffering and obstacles continue, due to the lack of fuel to operate desalination plants, and sometimes resorting to the black market, where the price increases by about 15 times, and its fuel is sometimes mixed with oils that cause... Damage to desalination devices..

The suffering of citizens is increasing day after day due to the water crisis and the repercussions of the tightening siege, as a large number of people are forced to ration the use of water for fear of it being cut off. This constitutes a real and dangerous challenge to the lives of citizens. Survival in Gaza is no longer dependent only on the shells and missiles of the occupation, but rather Thirst, hunger, and diseases as well, the causes are present for death and martyrdom, and this explains the loud numbers of martyrs, amid the world’s terrible silence regarding this ferocious attack, which Israel is launching against the Palestinian people to prevent them from living and cut off all windows of oxygen to them, to kill them in a systematic and programmed way, while they witness the death that He attacks him without mercy.
