Netanyahu will extend the deal negotiations until the visit to Washington

Netanyahu does not want to appear before American and international public opinion as rejecting the deal and seeking to prolong the war for the purpose of perpetuating his stay in power at the expense of the lives of Israeli prisoners. In addition, he wants to calm the atmosphere with the Biden administration on the eve of the visit...
In light of the escalation taking place on the northern front, which is open to all possibilities, the Washington Post revealed what it described as Hezbollah’s weapons stock, which includes winged and non-winged missiles, anti-tank guns, ballistic missiles, anti-ship missiles, and drones capable of carrying explosives.
The newspaper estimates that the party possesses 130-150 thousand missiles, the majority of which are unguided, and launching them in large quantities would cause significant damage to the Israeli air defense network. Compared to the strength of Hamas, the size of Hezbollah’s armament is four times the strength of Hamas, while its human strength is twice that of the latter, as it is estimated at 100 thousand fighters.
It is clear that such leaks at times like these come to serve Israeli goals, especially since they are published in pro-Israel American media, and that they seek to mobilize international support for Israel in its military and political war against the Lebanese resistance and portray it as being in a position of self-defense, in the face of “danger.” He also raided from the north to reinforce the image that Israel has always painted for itself before the world as a small entity surrounded by powerful enemies.
Recently, many Israeli and American voices have been raised warning of a military adventure, which might be undertaken, in the words of Reserve General Yitzhak Brick, by the “trinity of mythical heroes” Netanyahu, Gallant, Halevy and their followers in the political and military leadership who see war as the only guarantee for their continuation. On their sites.
Brick believes that a war on Lebanon will bring disaster to Israel, and that the Israeli army, which failed to defeat Hamas, will not be able to defeat Hezbollah, which possesses 150,000 rockets, shells, and drones. He pointed out that the continuation of the war in Gaza, which leads to the continuation of fighting in the north, will not bring anything Rather, it leads to the erosion of the army, the economy, Israel’s foreign relations, and its national immunity, and sooner or later it will lead to a regional war that will lead to Israel’s ruin.
Such voices, warning of the deliberate policy of escalation on the northern front, began to rise, in particular, after Hezbollah’s missile range expanded to reach the Lower Galilee region and the borders of Marj Ibn Amer, and began to exact more costs in lives. Military affairs researcher Dr. Yigil Levy says in an article published by Haaretz that the army leaders know very well that the assassination of Hezbollah leaders does not contribute to the security of the people of the north, and that these assassinations only provide ignition material for the next escalation and lead to more extremism on the other side...
Levy believes that assassinations are the use of military means in isolation from political logic and in a way that contradicts it, and that their goal is merely to relieve the frustration caused by the new security reality in Gaza, since Israel is unable to achieve its goals and is about to end the war while Hamas remains on its bayonets, which is (Israel). ) Deterred, quite simply, he says.
For his part, Reserve General Amos Gilad also criticized the expansion of the policy of assassinations against Hezbollah field leaders, saying that after every assassination, Hezbollah expands the circle of its missiles, which leads to further deterioration, warning against the assassination policy turning into a goal instead of a means. To achieve the goals, stressing that there will not be an agreement in Lebanon before it is an agreement in Gaza and that Sinwar will not accept what Netanyahu offers him by taking the largest number of prisoners and then killing him, in reference to Netanyahu’s attempts to thwart any exchange deal, which is what many commentators repeat. .
However, despite the growing skepticism about his intentions to conclude a deal, Netanyahu pushed the Israeli delegation to participate in its entirety in the negotiations on the prisoner exchange deal taking place in Cairo and Doha in parallel, seeking to use it to serve his upcoming visit to Washington and his speech before Congress.
Netanyahu does not want to appear before American and international public opinion as rejecting the deal and seeking to prolong the war for the purpose of perpetuating his stay in power at the expense of the lives of the Israeli prisoners. In addition, he wants to smooth the atmosphere with the Biden administration on the eve of the visit, and he will seek to prolong the negotiations beyond his speech in Congress on the 24th of this month.
