USAID: $100 million in aid to the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank
Today, USAID Administrator Samantha Power announced that the United States, through USAID, will provide an additional $100 million in emergency humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in dire need of assistance in Gaza and the West Bank.
This funding will support USAID's partner, the United Nations World Food Program, to provide urgent food assistance in Gaza and the West Bank. Almost all residents of Gaza face severe food insecurity and are in need of assistance, especially vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant and lactating women.
With this additional assistance, USAID will provide logistical support to safely and effectively deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza amid a continuing challenging and insecure operating environment. The United States continues to prioritize the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, who work under extremely high risks to provide assistance to people in need throughout Gaza and the West Bank.
This new funding assistance, provided under the recently passed National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act with bipartisan approval, brings the total humanitarian assistance announced by the United States to the Palestinians since the beginning of the conflict to more than $774 million.
