Palestine...an issue that is progressing and a solution that is moving away
Since the beginning of the Palestinian issue, which is officially about to complete a century, it has not been a neglected issue. Rather, it was the cause of a series of wars in which countries and armies participated, which always led to the opening of political paths. However, they all failed to reach solutions, which created a situation that the Palestinians see as tragic, which is that the issue has been strongly present since its beginnings, but its solution is far away, and what we are in now embodies this situation.
Before October 7, 2023, and contrary to what is sometimes said, the issue was present strongly and in a detailed way, even in the new normalization paths according to the “Abraham” Al-Salami approach, just as it was present in the old normalization paths that Egypt opened, and Jordan followed. Between them is the Palestinian Oslo attempt, but the two normalizations, the old and the new, did not achieve even a single step towards resolving the Palestinian issue, and here we see, before and after October 7, how the attempt collided with the Saudi wall, so that the issue remains as long as the occupation exists and Palestinian liberation and independence are prohibited. The most active reactor in producing wars and the impossibility of stability - even temporary - in the region.
The problematic duality produced by the October 2023 signing, the Israeli response to it, and the interactions that swept the universe as a result of it were embodied by strong progress and the overwhelming presence of the Palestinian issue, accompanied by a move away from the desired solution for it, that is, the solution that satisfies the Palestinians and is accepted by the Israelis, and which the world summarized in the popular term “the two-state solution.” .
When I see that the solution is moving away, this is not impromptu or spontaneous pessimism due to the steady failure of attempts at a solution. Rather, it is due to facts and their events, and the Gaza example alone is sufficient to prove this.
Gaza, after nine months of war, comprehensive destruction, and abundance of blood, has become a complex issue in itself, and there is no solution that can be talked about for any of the components of its condition, which was summed up by a large general question: What should be done today and what should be done the next day?
If we go to managing its crises as a possible alternative to resolving them, a thousand questions will arise before us, and there is no answer to even the simplest of them:
Who stamps passports at the Rafah crossing?
Who rules the sector after the war?
There are many questions related to Israel first, then the Palestinians second, and finally the world, including the region. If we wish to expand the question, how will the Gaza war lead to a solution to the Palestinian issue that satisfies its people and meets the possible limits of their rights?
The Palestinian issue and the Israelis’ internal game
The Israelis consider the solution to the Palestinian issue a matter decided by their internal game. It is either absolute subjugation of the millions of Palestinians under occupation, or war without end, and Smotrich, Ben Gvir and Netanyahu are not the only ones thinking about this solution.
The Labor Party took a risk with a solution born in Oslo, and the result was that the godfather of the solution was killed by a direct death penalty, and the party of the semi-permanent majority in Israel was transformed into the smallest of the minorities. Since that era, the deterioration began, and it has not stopped until now. Not in Palestine alone; And even at the level of the entire region.
The fundamental flaw lies in the fact that the keys to the solution are still in the hands of the Israelis, who chose to fight the Palestinians relentlessly, turning their backs on the desire of the whole world to do justice to them. It is a grave mistake to attribute this Israeli war to preventive or security motives, as much as it is a fateful war whose basis is that the Palestinians will not establish a real state.
Internal Palestinian divisions
The Palestinians have few defensive capabilities, compared to what their opponent possesses, and on top of that, their political class has plagued them with fierce internal divisions, some of which were based on a fight over the skin of a bear before hunting it, which produced many sub-divisions that led to one result, which is the depletion of their energies and the alienation of their only legitimate representative (the PLO ), and its weak presence in the equations. If the fighting "Hamas" is a target for eliminating its weapons, then the negotiating "Fatah" is a target for eliminating its goals.
The case is really moving forward; It has even imposed itself on peoples and states, and I do not need to list evidence of that. It has filled the world, invaded the media, entered every home, and influenced the directions of countries and governments. However, this comprehensive progress has not yet been achieved - as a result of the blind alliance between America and Israel - what He reassures the Palestinians that a solution to their issue is imminent. Rather, he walks away.
Manifestations of Palestinian steadfastness
The Palestinians - despite the enormity of the sins of the political class that imposes itself and its interests on their lives - have bound themselves with glorious shackles from which they cannot be escaped, regardless of the costs and costs. The first is their survival on the homeland, in destroyed Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. They have proven their ability to do so, and the second is taming the predatory monsters. Which raids their cities and villages day and night, by confronting it and bearing its harm, and overcoming it by clinging to and staying on the homeland, and prohibiting immigration, and the third - and I see it as the most important - building life, no matter how little the financial capabilities for that: schools and universities that include hundreds of thousands, and a crisis economy that provides the ingredients that people need. Life, and this is the most effective resistance that cannot be defeated by armies and fleets.
I return to the title, adding one sentence to it: “An issue is advancing, a solution is moving away... and Palestinians insist on building life.”
.............
The Palestinians - despite the enormity of the sins of the political class that imposes itself and its interests on their lives - have bound themselves with glorious shackles from which there is no escape, regardless of the costs and costs, the first of which is their survival on the homeland.
