Journalist Syndicate: 152 journalists and media workers killed since October 7
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said today, Sunday, that 152 journalists and media workers have been killed since the start of the Israeli occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.
In a press statement, the union condemned the occupation’s continued massacres against Palestinian journalists, the latest of which was the massacre it committed yesterday, which resulted in the death of 4 journalists.
It said that the occupation is committing one massacre after another against the Palestinian press, and is trying to kill witnesses to the truth in order to obscure it, and to hide the massacres it is committing against our people throughout the Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, from the eyes of the world.
It pointed out that the occupation forces arrested more than 100 journalists, including 85 journalists from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and 52 of them are still in detention, in addition to the injury of dozens of journalists, and the death of hundreds of their family members in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli bombing of their homes, in addition to the occupation’s destruction. It closed 86 press and media institutions throughout the Palestinian territories.
The union called on the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, and international and human rights institutions to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinian journalists, and to intervene urgently to provide protection for journalists and media institutions in Palestine in accordance with international treaties and conventions.
The Syndicate saluted the souls of the killed journalists, who rose in the footsteps of their colleagues who preceded them, as they continue their commitment to the mission of the journalism profession and the faithfulness of conveying the truth to the world, and revealing the ugly face of the occupation and its continuing and escalating crimes against our people.
It confirmed that, in coordination with the International Federation of Journalists, she will continue her efforts to prosecute the occupation and Israeli war criminals in international courts and the International Criminal Court, stressing that she has completed the preparation of all legal files that condemn the leaders of the occupation and reveal their truth, calling for the global voice to be raised against this Israeli crime, and to expose what it is doing. Right to journalists.
