The Arab Parliament: The Israeli decision to legitimize colonial outposts and impose taxes on churches is a grave violation of international law

The Arab Parliament condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation government to legalize five colonial outposts in the West Bank, and to impose taxes on churches and their institutions in the city of Jerusalem, in blatant defiance and gross violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, most notably Security Council Resolution No. 2334.

The Arab Parliament added, in a statement issued today, Saturday, “The occupation’s attempts to legitimize colonial outposts and agree to build more colonies in the West Bank are dangerous attempts to deliberately liquidate the Palestinian cause, in light of the continuation of the war of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement of the people.” Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the dangerous escalation of colonial violations and crimes in the West Bank.

Parliament also held the occupation accountable for the consequences of these practices that exceeded all limits, and represent a blatant challenge to the entire international community, a flagrant violation of international law, and an undermining of all international efforts aimed at implementing the two-state solution.

It called on the United Nations, the international community and the Security Council to take immediate and urgent action to stop these Israeli colonial plans, which aim to change the existing historical and legal situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, to abandon silence and confront these racist crimes, to activate the mechanisms of international law and international humanitarian law, and to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable. In order to achieve justice and equity for the Palestinian people, against whom all war crimes are committed, in full view of the whole world, and to provide them with international protection.
