UN calls: Enough of the filth of war
The increasing frequency of international calls to stop the war are good steps that contribute to increasing pressure on the occupying entity, but they require practical measures to be implemented on the ground.
The call by the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Dennis Francis, to stop the war, saying, “This is enough, because many civilians lost their lives in the Strip, most of them women and children,” came as an indication of the seriousness of the situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of providing support to the Palestinian people in Gaza to rebuild their lives.
Francis touched on the filth of war practiced by Israel, saying, “The United Nations was established to protect the world from the filth of war.”
For her part, the United Nations rapporteur on the right to health, Tlaleng Mofokeng, said that no other expression other than genocide could be used for what is happening in the Gaza Strip, demanding that arguments be presented that what is happening in Gaza is genocide, and then the people responsible for the crimes should be tried in the court of justice. International..
Despite the importance of these statements and calls, they go unheeded because they are not accompanied by practical steps on the ground to deter Israel and prevent it from continuing its sinful aggression, as Israel responds to these calls with large-scale massacres in Shujaiya, Rafah, and other Palestinian neighborhoods and cities in the Gaza Strip.
Israel, the occupying power, continues to ignore all the UN resolutions that were issued recently, most notably the UN Security Council resolution that called for a halt to the war and the International Court of Justice resolution that called for the necessity of stopping the invasion of Rafah, flouting international conventions and norms in blatant defiance of these legitimate resolutions, in an effort to continue the aggression. With clear support from the United States of America, which rules the world and controls the Middle East region to protect Israel and enhance its military superiority at the expense of Palestinian and Arab blood, it is a partner in the aggression, which is truly considered the dirtiest war waged by Israel against the oppressed Palestinian people, and it is time to stop it immediately.
