An alliance to repel Israel...why now?
The war in Gaza showed that we - alone - are unable to prevent the killing of our Muslim brothers before our eyes, and the destruction of their homelands. Now Israel is threatening another country, Lebanon, with a violent attack. Will the Islamic world be satisfied with watching those lands turn into ruin and the death of thousands of people?
and what?
Israel has a vision for the future; It seeks to seize the lands of the “Promised Land” and establish the Greater State of Israel. They have the dream of an ideal state, and I believe that many Muslims do not believe that this state can be achieved. But the Zionists are working hard to make it a reality.
Before World War I; No one believed that Theodor Herzl's dream of establishing an Israeli entity on the lands of the Ottoman Empire could be achieved, but they achieved it at that time, and now they are seeking to achieve the dream of the "Promised Land."
If the Islamic world continues this dispersion, fragmentation, and weak positions regarding what is happening on the scene of events in our Islamic world, we will likely see Israel expand in the region, and there will be no deterrent to these unbridled desires. But our issue is not Israel's vision for the future, but rather what the Islamic world's plans are for the future. Do Islamic countries in the region have a plan to confront Israel's expansion and aggression? Or do they have a shared vision for the future?
If we look from the window of political realism, when we see the situation and policies of the 57 OIC member states, everyone believes that it is impossible to establish a common goal. How can dozens of countries that are hostile and in conflict with each other agree on a common vision, right?
Defensive alliance
In such a case, I always cite the founding of the European Union as an example. France, Germany, England, and Italy fought wars among themselves, but began working toward unification immediately after World War II ended. How did you manage to unite after a war that killed nearly 70 million people?
Japan and the United States fought the bloodiest wars but allied themselves against China.
Isn't NATO a similar organization? Türkiye and Greece never see eye to eye, but they cooperate in the field of defence.
So, why aren't Islamic countries united at least on the minimum commonalities? For example, against Israel's aggressive and expansionist policies.
The dream of the “Promised Land” does not only include the Palestinian territories, but also considers the lands of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran among the targeted lands.
If NATO was established to confront the threat of Russia, why cannot Islamic countries create a defensive alliance to confront the threat of Israel? The reason lies in the weakness of the will of the official regimes. Most of these regimes live in separation from their people, and do not think about the dangers surrounding our Islamic world and ways to confront them.
However, if you conduct any public opinion poll in any country, you will find that Muslim peoples desire unity, joint action, and unification against Israel’s aggression.
Even the occupation of Gaza and the massacres that were committed did not make these regimes wake up, and I do not think anything else could. Therefore, we can lose hope in any action that contributes to stopping the genocide to which the population of the Gaza Strip is being subjected.
My hope lies in Muslim youth, as they see the mistakes accumulating before their eyes, and I am confident that in the future they will not commit these mistakes, but will adopt a new vision.
