Netanyahu: Our disagreement with Hamas is over ending the war without achieving its goals
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the dispute with Hamas is over ending the war on Gaza without achieving the declared Israeli goals, indicating that this prevents reaching a prisoner exchange deal under an agreement on a ceasefire in the Palestinian Strip, which is being subjected to... The Israeli war has been ongoing for 247 days.
Netanyahu's statements came during a meeting with representatives of the so-called "Hagvora (Heroism) Forum", which consists of the families of Israeli soldiers killed in the war on the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu said: “An agreement was not reached because we will not give up on completing the goals of the war. The main disagreement with Hamas revolves around the commitment to end the fighting without completing the goals.”
In turn, representatives of the "Hagvora Forum" stressed the need to continue the war and affirmed their support for Netanyahu, and said, "We are here to ensure that Israel completes all the goals of the war and achieves victory," according to what the "Israel Hayom" newspaper reported on its website, while Netanyahu is exposed to Political pressure from his coalition partners to prevent him from moving forward with negotiations with Hamas.
At the end of last May, US President Joe Biden, whose administration greatly supports Tel Aviv in its war on Gaza, spoke about Israel submitting a three-stage proposal that includes a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of detainees, and the reconstruction of the Strip. On Saturday, Israel announced the release of 4 detainees in Gaza, in a special military operation in the Nuseirat camp in the central Strip.
