Red Crescent: Large numbers of dead bodies were found in northern Gaza
The Red Crescent Society confirmed today, Friday, that large numbers of bodies of martyrs had been discovered, after Israeli military vehicles withdrew from areas where they had penetrated, in the northern Gaza Strip.
The association reported in a statement, “There are large numbers of martyrs in areas where Israeli vehicles have penetrated into the northern Gaza Strip, and rescue crews are facing difficulties in recovering the martyrs,” without specifying.
It added, "Civil Defense urgently needs equipment to retrieve martyrs and bodies from under the rubble."
It warned that faltering in the process of recovering the bodies would threaten the spread of diseases and epidemics in the northern Gaza areas.
Today, Friday, the Israeli army withdrew from the northern Gaza Strip after a military operation that lasted 20 days, leaving unprecedented widespread destruction, especially in the Jabalia camp and its surroundings, and burning hundreds of homes.
On May 12, the Israeli army began a ground attack in the camp and its surrounding areas, then announced three days later the expansion of the attack after its forces faced “fierce battles” with Palestinian resistance factions.
Reports indicated that Israeli military vehicles withdrew completely from the northern Gaza Strip and were stationed at points near the eastern and northern border strip of the Strip.
It reported that in the early hours of dawn, tens of thousands of residents began returning to Jabalia camp and its surroundings, to inspect their homes and property.
Eyewitnesses said that the Israeli withdrawal revealed massive destruction in the Jabalia camp and its surroundings, including thousands of housing units, in addition to roads, water, electricity, and sewage networks.
Israeli soldiers also burned hundreds of residential buildings that were not destroyed in the camp.
