Broadcasting Corporation: A preliminary agreement between Egypt and Israel to open the Rafah crossing

On Thursday, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, citing sources, revealed a preliminary agreement between Egypt and Israel to open the Rafah crossing to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The Egyptian authorities had refused to reopen its borders with Gaza after Israeli forces took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing.

An Egyptian official said earlier: “As long as Israeli forces remain at the Rafah crossing, Egypt will not send a single truck to Rafah.”

According to the Israeli Channel 12, the Israeli National Security Advisor, Tzachi Hanegbi, indicated that the current government will not take a decision to stop the war in exchange for the return of all the prisoners.

The Israeli National Security Advisor added: “I do not think that this government will succeed in completing the entire exchange deal.”

He stressed that "the humanitarian part of the deal will be concluded within a few months."
