The White House: The scenes of the bombing of a camp for displaced people in Rafah are extremely heartbreaking
The White House described the scenes coming from a camp for displaced people in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, after it was exposed to Israeli bombing last Sunday evening, as “extremely heartbreaking.”
This was stated by a spokesman for the US National Security Council on Monday, preferring not to reveal his name.
The American spokesman expressed his sadness over the deaths of civilians as a result of the bombing.
He added: "Israel has the right to pursue Hamas members, but it must also take all measures to protect civilians. We are communicating with the Israeli military and officials to find out the details of the camp bombing incident."
On Sunday evening, 45 Palestinians were martyred and 249 others were injured, most of them children and women, in an Israeli bombing that targeted the tents of displaced people in the Tal al-Sultan area, northwest of the city of Rafah.
The "massacre" sparked sharp regional and international criticism of Israel, with accusations of defying international legitimacy resolutions, and calls to impose sanctions and pressure it to end the "genocide" and stop the ongoing ground attack on Rafah since May 6.
