Tibi to Al-Quds: Netanyahu is delaying the ceasefire because he knows the consequences

In a speech he delivered from the Knesset podium, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted the crime of targeting displaced Palestinians in tents on the Egyptian border, and said it was a mistake. Arab MP Dr. Ahmed Tibi responded to him by saying that it was a war crime in which you killed 45 Palestinians, most of whom were women and children.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Tibi said in exclusive statements to (Al-Quds) that Netanyahu failed to achieve the declared goals of the war on Gaza, and he often used the expression “absolute victory” even though the military option did not lead to the liberation - even - of a single detainee, and did not contribute to undermining Hamas’ rule or Its military arsenal, and the occupation army inflicted heavy losses in soldiers and military equipment.

Al-Tibi added: “Netanyahu appeared weak and trembling at the sound of the screams and chants of the prisoners’ families who interrupted him during the speech more than once, while the Israeli opposition felt reckless and ridiculed by his repeating the same insolent speech, and members of his party and government appeared embarrassed, knowing that they will not achieve absolute victory.

Al-Tayeb stated that the speech was characterized by embarrassment because it was repeatedly boycotted by the families of detainees in Gaza. They were screaming and their voices were heard throughout the Knesset, adding that Netanyahu was emotional and embarrassed and was presenting arguments and justifications after everyone in the government and the opposition realized that he was the one who did not want to reach a deal.

Tibi confirmed that Netanyahu verbally admitted that he had expanded the powers of the negotiating team 5 times, and said that Netanyahu seemed confused, especially when he held Yahya Sinwar, head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, responsible and that he was the one who refused to complete the deal.

Tibi explained to (Al-Quds) that Netanyahu is procrastinating like weak football teams deliberately wasting time, and Netanyahu is wasting time in order not to stop the fire and so that his government does not fall, and this far-right coalition does not bear responsibility for the failure of October 7 and in managing the war of extermination that he is waging against the Palestinian people. In the besieged sector.

Netanyahu launched an attack on critics of his management of the war on the besieged Gaza Strip and the talks aimed at reaching a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas under an agreement on a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, whether from the opposition or from within the government, in a speech from the Knesset podium. Yesterday evening, Netanyahu denied that the approach he is following is the main obstacle preventing reaching a deal that guarantees the release of Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip, and claimed that “since the end of last December until now, I have received 5 requests from the negotiating team to express more... Flexibility in (Israeli) conditions and expanding the powers of the negotiators, and it approved all proposals.”

Netanyahu attacked the army's official responsible for the issue of Israeli prisoners and hostages, reserve general Nitzan Alon, without naming him. He said: "Those who despair are called to raise a black flag, or a white flag of surrender," noting that Alon had expressed this in closed sessions, the contents of which were leaked. To the media, he expressed his dissatisfaction with Netanyahu’s management of the prisoner file.

Netanyahu said, “The repeated briefings that we are the obstacle to reaching a deal are deceptive and false, and not only hurt the families of the hostages, but lead to something worse, making the process of liberating them out of reach,” and continued, “Instead of directing blame to Sinwar, it is directed toward Israel.” Sinwar is happy that someone is doing the work for him, and he sees that Israel is making more and more concessions.”

This came as families of prisoners detained in the Gaza Strip attended the Knesset session, where they raised banners with pictures of their relatives and asked Netanyahu to “look into their eyes.” The opposition leader, Yair Lapid, also boycotted Netanyahu's speech on more than one occasion and demanded that he "take responsibility" and resign from his position. He also called on him to "stop chanting slogans" and work to return the prisoners at "any cost."

Netanyahu reiterated his position on “absolute victory” in the Israeli war on Gaza, and said: “I hear here (in the Knesset) in the studios that they constantly repeat the impossibility of victory. If you want victory and power, listen to the warriors. I will not raise the white flag of surrender. I will continue fighting until "Victory."

He added, "Lapid and his friends tell me to make decisions. I make decisions, but not the decisions they want."
In response to a question, Tibi told Al-Quds that Netanyahu is procrastinating and continuing the war on Gaza, taking into account the proximity of the American elections, even though Donald Trump’s victory is not yet guaranteed.

Netanyahu added that he is constantly thinking and following Congress and the two major parties, the Republicans and Democrats, and what the outcome of the primary elections in the states and the US presidential elections will be, and at the same time he is constantly and diligently trying to maintain his seat as prime minister and distance the Israeli elections and prevent them from being held.

In turn, Lapid launched an attack on Netanyahu, and said: “You cannot remain prime minister, because you are hostage to the extremists in your government. You are not doing what you know is right, because you are afraid to death of (Ministers) Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.”
Lapid stressed that Netanyahu “is causing a historic opportunity to be missed to reach a regional peace agreement, leading to a settlement in Gaza and in the north.” He said: “All you have to say is no Hamastan and no Fatehstan, because this is what remains of your leadership - the time has come.” To do the thing that is required for once in your life: go home.”
