Thousands of Israelis demand an exchange deal and early elections
Thousands of Israelis demonstrated in the cities of Haifa and Caesarea on Saturday, demanding the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal with the Palestinian factions in Gaza and the holding of early elections.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that approximately 2,000 people demonstrated at the Karkur junction near the city of Haifa, to demand the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal and the replacement of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
The demonstrators at the Karkur intersection raised banners reading: “The country is burning,” and “The government has abandoned the fighters and prisoners.”
In the city of Caesarea, near Netanyahu's home, thousands of Israelis demonstrated to demand an immediate exchange deal. They also attacked the government and held it responsible for the lives of detainees in Gaza.
The demonstrators in Caesarea demanded the immediate dismissal of Netanyahu and his government, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.
It is expected that the demonstrations will intensify in the following hours to include all parts of Israel, especially the city of Tel Aviv, which witnesses central demonstrations weekly demanding the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal.
